What is cold foam?
Cold foam is a whipped combination of either cream and milk, or just milk, used to top coffee of matcha with a thick, creamy froth.
With dairy milk you can get away with not using cream if you don't want to, but plant-based milk will need the cream component.
Ingredients
Milk
Whippable cream
Honey or Honey Syrup
Vanilla or Vanilla Syrup
Ice
Matcha Powder
Method
1. Create your syrup by either mixing honey and vanilla syrup, or honey and vanilla extract/bean paste and a splash of water
2. Add your syrup mix to your favourite glass and add your ice, leaving a couple of inches at the top.
3. Prepare a shot of matcha (a matcha espresso) by covering 2-5g of matcha with 60-80°C and mixing. Pour this into your glass.
4. With a whisk or blender, prepare your cold foam by mixing 2 parts of your preferred whippable cream and 1 part of your preferred milk, whisk or blend for 30 seconds or until you have a creamy foam. Pour this into your glass, and gently sift a bit of matcha powder over the top for the perfect, Instagram-able photo.
